Above the Fold

Writing above the fold is the idea that your message should be understand if the “newspaper” was never unfolded. This aligns with the Inverted Pyramid approach to writing where the most important information comes at the top. This idea is often important when you’re designing sites and other media because user attention is limited. Most people will read for a few seconds and determine if your page/tool/etc. is going to do what they need².
