Control Codes

Control codes are what are passed to terminals to tell them what to draw. These are remnants of the teletypes or typewrites¹. Think of “ctrl c”.

New Line §

This is also where we see the split with unix looking for \n and windows looking for \r\n¹.

Delete: ASCII 1111111 §

This is another historical remnant, this time from the paper tape era¹.
